World Cup 2010 Draws Are Out Learn Who is in Each Bracket

The World Cup 2010 Draw is out along with the odds from the Las Vegas Hilton. There are some interesting groupings and some easy roads out of the first round for some of the elite teams. The 2010 World Cup begins in

June of 2010 in South Africa. A tough draw for the USA as they are in Group C with England. Brazil and Spain should have no troubles in their respective groups.

This week after the 2010 World Cup draw, look for England, Spain and Brazil to get bet down. Also keep an eye on what is being referred to by OLBGsports.com as the two groups of death. Brazil in group G and Spain in Group H. Both look like they have an uneventful first round ahead of them. The draw also means Brazil and Spain will not meet in the finals.

The first round of qualifying is broken up into eight, four team groups. The World Cup 2010 will be held in South Africa. The following are the groups and teams including the odds of winning according to the Las Vegas Hilton Superbook. (odds are to win the World Cup not individual games)

Picks to make it out of group: France and Uruguay. Tough to bet against the host of the World Cup, South Africa but sentimental doesn't cash your ticket at the window.

Group B

Greece 80-1

Picks to make it out of group: Argentina and long shot South Korea. Argentina is everyones pick but look for long shot South Korea to come out and shock Greece and Nigeria.

Group C

England 6-1
USA 50-1
Algeria 150-1
Slovenia 150-1

Picks to make it out of group: England and USA. Pretty much a no brainer here. The USA soccer has been known to struggle but that was many World Cups ago. England's odds are already coming down as of this writing.

Group D

Germany 10-1
Australia 100-1
Ghana 60-1
Serbia 50-1

Picks to make it out of group: Germany and Ghana. Although I picked Against Australia here don't be surprised if they pull an upset.

Group E

Netherlands 10-1
Japan 125-1
Cameroon 80-1
Denmark 80-1

Picks to make it out of group: Netherlands and Cameroon. This is another instance where it is a coin toss between Cameroon and Denmark. Cameroon gets the edge.

Group F
Italy 10-1
New Zealand 1000-1
Paraguay 40-1
Slovakia 150-1

Picks to make it out of group: Italy and Paraguay. This group is Italy getting out easily but if they look past Paraguay they may lose one game.

Italy is also my choice for the 2010 World Cup Champions.

Group G

Brazil 4-1
North Korea 750-1
Ivory Coast 60-1
Portugal 80-1

Picks to make it out of group: Brazil and Portugal. Labeled the group of death by many, Brazil should have little problem and Portugal will be second best.

Group H

Spain 4-1
Honduras 150-1
Chile 50-1
Switzerland 150-1

Picks to make it out of group: Spain and Switzerland. Also labeled the group of death I like another long shot in Switzerland. Spain will obviously advance easily.

If you like a team that has long odds try to get money on it early. Some workplaces will put pools together for the World Cup. If you have an opportunity to bet on the overall champion Italy the defending champion looks like a nice price at 10-1. Argentina also isn't a bad choice at 9-1.

As always shop your lines especially on World Cup 2010. The first games won't go off until June so you can look around for your best picks and find a good number. Also when World Cup 2010 gets close look for sports books to try to cash in on the public desire to bet on World Cup games. 10) Mexico

Rocketing in is a new entry at number ten and it comes all the way from Mexico. After dominating South Africa in their opener only to ahem, record a point, Javier Aguirre's side demolished the French to set themselves up nicely for the last 16. Going all the way is unlikely though as the best Mexico have ever achieved is the quarter-finals in 1970 and 1986 when they hosted the tournament.

Band/musician they most resemble: Elton John - At their peak in the 70s and 80s they continue to attract an enthusiastic following.

Betting Odds: 41.0

9) Portugal

With a pouting prima donna, Portgual were always likely to feature in any top 10 pop countdown and are joint sixth favourites. Their odds have lengthened from 26.0 to 34.0 and a dismal game against the Ivory Coast certainly hasn't convinced anybody. A scrap with samba specialists Brazil will likely decide their fate.

Band/musician they most resemble: Madonna - Impossible to ignore even if you want to.

Betting Odds: 34.0

8) Uruguay

Upstarts from South America who upset the local talent by gatecrashing the party are now joint sixth favourites. Thumping South Africa has seen a flurry of bets on Uruguay winning their group but scooping a third World Cup is a different prospect. If would be an even greater shock than their stunning defeat of Brazil in the Maracana back in 1950.

Band/musician they most resemble: The Police - Command attention due to their impressive past and worthy of respect when they embark on the comeback trail.

Odds: 34.0

7) Italy

The slowest of slow starters will need a rendition of Nessun Dorma if they are retain their crown. Marcello Lippi's Azzurri odds have stretched from 13.0 out to 17.0 after a disappointing opener against Paraguay. We await with interest for new performances from an ageing lineup.

Band/musician they most resemble: The Rolling Stones - Best known for their earlier work and while they are legends there's little to get excited about with the fresh material.

Betting Odds: 17.0

6) England

Dropping three places from last week the Three Lions are now 9.0 after peaking at 7.0. Like many British artists they found it difficult to crack the American market spoiling the hopes of a nation. It's been more Spice Girls 'On Top of the World' than New Order's 'World In Motion' so far.

Band/musician they most resemble: U2 - Overstate their importance in the global scheme of things. We could do without the declarations of greatness all the time.

5) Netherlands

Capable of producing some of the best material the Dutch showed their class against Denmark and are now joint third favourites. Have got agonisingly close to the number one spot in the past only to be denied by the hosts. Pretty unlikely to see that happening this time round so perhaps this is Oranje's year after all.

Band/musician they most resemble: Oasis - Talented without any doubt but you're always waiting for a row to kick off.

Betting Odds: 8.0

4) Germany

Moving up two places from last week are the nationalmannschaft whose odds have shortened from 12.0 to 8.0 to be tied with the Netherlands. Always reliable the Germans should never be discounted and could face a showdown with fierce foes England in the next round.

Band/musician they most resemble: Westlife - Have frequently topped the charts but their style isn't always admired. A bit annoying unless you're a fan.

3 & 2) Brazil & Spain

We have a tie for second spot with the odds on both teams stretching since our last countdown. Spain's shock defeat against Switzerland has seem them stretch from 5.0 to 5.75 while Brazil have shifted slightly from 5.50 to 5.75. Both have the capacity to entertain and whoever beats the samba or does a better flamenco dance is sure to have an outstanding chance of winning the World cup.

(Brazil) Band/musician they most resemble: The Beatles - Simply the best and often copied but practically impossible to beat the original masters.

Betting Odds: 5.75

(Spain) Band/musician they most resemble: The Smiths - Adored for their style and effortless class but have never clocked up a number one single.

1) Argentina

Flying in at number one is La Albiceleste at 5.25 which is a major drop on last week's 7.50. Inspired by their manager who had quite the career at the top of the charts Argentina are now installed as favourites. Already through to the knock out stages pundits are currently eating their words about Diego Maradona's management skills. Tread carefully though. We were saying the same thing four years ago after they dazzled in the group stage only to be eliminated by Germany.

Band/musician they most resemble: Motley Crue - You've no idea what is going to happen next. Capable of outrageous brilliance but there is the sneaking suspicion it could all implode at any moment. Fun...while it lasts.

The results after the completion of the first Group Stage’s day have generated some changes on the betting odds regarding which team can reach the World Cup final and lift the trophy.

Before the end of the tournament, number one pick was Spain by 5.00 (4/1). This changed and now for the bookmakers first choice is Argentina by 5.50 (betting odds dropped as before the beginning of the tournament was at 7.50). Another very interesting change is the one regarding Germany. Before the beginning of the tournament Germany was offered to 15.00 but now after the excellent performance against Australia dropped to 7.00. Brazil is still the second choice with 6.50 while the biggest change was for France as from 19.00 get high at 126.00 as it is almost impossible to progress to the next phase.
